A boy reported, in t he last 24 months, he is experiencing difficulty concentrating in the classroom, occasionally leading to behavioral difficulties and incomplete classwork.
A 9 years old boy, from a nuclear family of 5. Family consisting of Grandmother, Father, Mother and a younger sibling based in Mumbai.
His SOI assessment report highlighted underdeveloped comprehension ability. This ability is an important cognitive skill, a deficit in this area of learning was leading to frustration & subsequently difficulty in concentrating. The boy was having difficulties understanding textbook material in the first go, which in turn was leading to disciplinary issues in the classroom.
SOI Learning Specialist received a detailed list of the activities that would develop the required cognitive ability. Learning strategies were used to develop comprehension, memory and multi tasking abilities, These activities helped the child improve in his attention span, memory, recall, process orientation, symbol decoding & contextual comprehension.
After 60 hours of intensive cognitive training, the child doing much better at school both academically as well as behaviorally. His parents report that he is more attentive and joyful in the classroom. His participation in the classroom has improved. He is more curious to learn and ask questions.
